The Shop Around the Corner

Posted October 25, 2013
With many years of monogramming experience, Laura Lewis decided to open her own store in Ridgeland, MS. To help her in this endeavor, she contacted the HCC MSBDC and was assisted by James Bennett, HCC MSBDC Counselor, on the opening stages of her business. Together they worked on her business plan, financial needs and business structure to make sure everything was on the right track. Today, The Shop Around the Corner specializes in monograming services, home decor, and boy's apparel.

Below, Laura shares the impact MSBDC counseling had for her business.

"So glad I was directed to James Bennett at HCC for proper direction on setting up my new business! His help & knowledge has assisted me to go through the necessary steps correctly and efficiently. More people need to learn about this much needed service his office provides. I'm confident that he will continue to keep me on the right track with updating the corporate documents, that would be time consuming for me otherwise. His guidance has been professional and done in a timely manner which has helped expedite my banking needs and requirements as well. Thanks for allowing HCC to offer such a program to people such as myself - my store is a better formulated company as a result of Mr. Bennett's help! Thanks!"

MSBDC will continue to be a source of assistance for Laura and The Shop Around the Corner. We wish her best of luck and much success with her new business venture.
